RESOURCES - RC Submarines

The SubCommittee (http://www.SubCommittee.com/)
This is an organization of RC Submarine enthusiasts. They have regular regattas of RC submarines and publish a quarterly magazine, The SubCommittee Report. The report is a great resource for construction techniques, as well as vendors of pressure hulls, motors, mechanical and electrical feedthroughs, etc.

RC Submarine Vendors
There are several vendors of RC sub kits and components (Motors, controls, shaft seals, hulls, etc.) and the SubCommittee web page has pointers to many of them.

RESOURCES - Professional Journals, Conferences and Organizations

The journals listed here may be in your school library. In addition, faculty members (particularly in an ocean engineering or naval architecture department) may subscribe. You can also contact the publishers for subscription information and back issues. The conference proceedings may be a source for ideas. Again, try your professors and your library. The sponsoring organizations generally have a limited number of copies of proceedings from the more recent conferences. Finally, these organizations may help direct you to people and companies in your area that are working in AUV-related fields.

Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (http://www.auvsi.org)

Unmanned Systems 2001, AUVSI's annual conference and exhibition, will occur from July 31 through Aug 2 in Baltimore. See the website for meeting details.

Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers
(http://www.ieee.org)
The Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) of IEEE (http://auv.tamu.edu/oes/) publishes a monthly journal and sponsors a conference devoted to AUVs. Previous conferences were held in 1992, '94, '96 and '98. Contact IEEE for details. IEEE also jointly sponsors the annual "Oceans" meeting with the Marine Technology Society. The next meeting will be in November 2001, in Honolulu, Hawaii (http://www.oceans2001.com/).

Marine Technology Society
(http://www.mtsociety.org/)
The MTS publishes a quarterly journal, and co-sponsors the annual Oceans meetings with IEEE.

Autonomous Undersea Systems Institute
(http://www.ausi.org)
Every other year AUSI hosts a symposium on Unmanned, Untethered, Submersible Technology - the oldest continuing conference on AUVs. The next meeting is this fall, August 27-29, 2001, in Durham New Hampshire. They can be reached at:
